Fast, difficult and fun, Sky Rogue is, as the name suggests, a rogue-like air combat game. The game itself is relatively simple, but the techniques and tactics that can be used can become quite complex.

The game starts with the player launching from the deck of a sky carrier. The level is procedurally generated and set at sea with islands in the middle of the map. It contains a plethora or enemy targets, including other aircraft, SAM and AA sites, hangars, ships, oil rigs, command bases and more.

Before launching, the player is given an objective to complete, such as shooting down a group of bombers, or destroying a research facility. Based on their objective, the player can customise their loadout, choosing aircraft such as bombers, fighters and interceptors, and choosing from a wide range of weapons including air to air missiles, dumb fire rockets, cannons, unguided bombs, air to surface missiles and many others.

During the level, you have the ability to land at either the sky carrier you launched from, or from a small airbase on an island. One landed, you can fully customise your loadout as you did before the mission, as well as repair your aircraft. This allows for tactics such as first using a fighter to get rid of enemy air support before switching to a bomber to take out the ground objective.

As this is a rogue-like, if you die it's game over, and you go back to the start, however you keep the weapons that you unlocked. Sky rogue also has workshop support, for adding more aircraft and new skins to go with the ones that come default with the game. The skins are also relatively easy to create yourself, too.
